Sharon S. Moyer

Sharon Moyer's practice encompasses two key areas of the law: advising and defending employers, and representing parties in trust and estate controversy.

In her employment law practice, Sharon helps employers comply with increasingly complex federal and state regulations, avoid employee claims, and defend against regulatory actions and employee lawsuits.

“For business owners, few things are more noble than putting people to work,” Sharon recently wrote, “and few things cause more headaches than putting people to work. My goal is to allow employers to enjoy more of the benefits of running a business, and to avoid employee-related headaches.

Sharon’s positive outcomes for employers include the following:

  • Guided employers through Department of Labor audits, resulting in no payment of back pay, fines or penalties.

  • Obtained statewide enforcement of a restrictive covenant in a state court matter that involved complex electronic discovery issues.

  • Obtained employer verdicts in numerous jury trials involving discrimination lawsuits in both state and federal court.

  • Prevailed in Fair Labor Standards Act collective action lawsuits, resulting in dismissals by the courts or by the plaintiffs.

  • Worked with numerous employers through the process or properly classifying employees from independent contractor status and from exempt to non-exempt employees.

In addition, Sharon's effectiveness in trust, estate and probate controversies is rooted in the experience she gained in estate planning earlier in her 30-year legal career.

Active in the community, Sharon is an advocate and supporter of the Phoenix Children’s Project, serves on the courts' Foster Care Review Board, and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) of Greater Phoenix and the Assisted Living Federation of America.
